Rosario - Working With Work Items - Part 3

So let's delve into the Links tab a little more.  First, let's open one of the Business Objective work items.  Open Visual Studio, then Team Explorer.  Drill down to the eBanking Team Project -> Work Items folder.  Right-click on Work items and select Go To Work Item.  This opens the Go To Work Item window.  Enter 33 in the window and click OK.  This should open work item 33, which is a Business Objective work item.  Click the Links tab.

As you can see, this work item has examples of both parent and child links.  The parent of this work item is clearly defined as Business Objective 31.  As well, the children of this work item are also clearly defined, as Requirements 36 and 37.  I can double-click the parent or one of the children to open that specific work item.  I can edit the comment associated with the link, or delete a link as well.

To add a new link, click the Add button.  This opens the Add Link window.  The details of the Add Link window vary depending on the Link Type that is selected.  Here are all the different options:

Link Type: Changeset

Link Type: Child, Fulfilled By, Fulfills, Predecessor, Related, Successor, Tested By, Tests

Link Type: Hyperlink

Link Type: Test Result

Link Type: Versioned Item

Over the next several posts, we'll add links for all these types, and investigate the new query options for being able to view these links.
