It still won't make me give up Team System though...
Infoworld has an article entitled Borland to mix ALM, business intelligence:
Borland Software in the mid-2008 timeframe plans to blend business intelligence with application lifecycle management, releasing products that will collect data stored in disparate toolsets for use in reporting metrics in application development projects.
To me, it sounds like they are trying to introduce a tool that will give you all the data you can get from using Team Foundation Server, but gather that data from a variety of difference sources, such as open source tools and, so the article says, other vendor's products. As such, I suppose it could tap into Team Foundation Server using the API and grab some information.
It sounds like a very ambitious undertaking, and is apparently still almost two years away. I'll chalk this up into the "wait and see" category. For those of you who want all the abilities that the article mentions, you should check out Team Foundation Server. It tracks all that information, and it's available now.
