Inducted into the Community Credit Hall of Fame
Community-Credit.com is a great site to get (and then keep) yourself motivated to participate in the technology community. By now you have probably heard of this site, but if not here is a brief overview: You can use the site to track your contributions to the technology community. Those contributions may be as simple as answering some questions on a forum, writing blog posts, or something more time consuming such as running a code camp, or writing a book. There is a huge list of potential contributions, and each one earns you a certain amount of points. Each month, the top 10-15 people who earn the most points win "stupid" (their word, not mine) prizes.
And come on, what IT person does not like their swag? Case in point, look at all the frakkin' T-Shirts that are given out at Tech Ed. But Community-Credit.com actually does give out some different, and in some cases really nice, gifts. Last month, for example, they gave out a USB Podcasting kit (something I would have loved to get a hold of, given we are getting RadioTFS off the ground), and usually the top prize every month is something pretty nice.
David Silverlight runs the site, as well as several others, and I feel he does a great job at it. I've had the privilege of meeting David, and not only is he a passionate member of the technology community, he is also a really cool guy and speaker. So if you haven't gone to Community-Credit.com yet and signed up, you should. It doesn't cost you anything, and it could just net you some cool stuff.
This leads me up to my announcement. I have been inducted into the Community Credit Hall of Fame. From the letter I received from David:
Congratulations, You have been inducted into the Community Credit Hall of Fame. This award recognizes you as a contributor to the development community who has gone well above and beyond the norm. You are among the forces that really help the development community thrive. This level of recognition should be something to be very proud of and you are among a select few.
I consider it quite an honor to be added to this list of people, when you start to really look at some of the people on the list. And while I still haven't achieved that pinnacle of taking the grand prize for a month yet, I haven't given up yet.
