For those who are still using VS2005/2008, Jehan has provided some instructions on how to connect the to TFS 2010.

Speaking at DevLink in August

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

I am SUPER excited to back at Devlink this year speaking.  There are still tickets available for the conference, but it is expected to sell out soon, so if you are interested in one of the best conferences in the South-East, go hit the website right now and register.

I’ll be speaking on two topics:

8/5/2010 12:00:00 PM
"Yes Virginia, You Do Care How Your Version Control Repository Is Configured"

"Having the best version control software in the world doesn’t do you any good if you don’t know how to configure it correctly. In this session, we will look at how Team Foundation Server Version Control works, and give out some best practices on how to configure your version control repository, as well as look at different change management and branching strategies, that apply not just to TFS 2010, but any version control system."

Room: E109

8/6/2010 4:00:00 PM
”These Aren’t Your Daddy’s Testing Tools”

"Visual Studio 2010 delivers a new crop of testing tools that raise the bar for testing, as well as provide testers with everything they need to do their job right. And the best thing is, they don’t even have to go into Visual Studio 2010 to use them! In this session we will look at some of the new testing tools available with Visual Studio 2010, including the Manual Test Runner, Test Cases, and Coded UI Tests. Once you watch a test run using the Manual Test Recorder, and see all the information it collects for you, as well as the video playback, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without these tools!"

Room: E109

I’d love to have a packed crowd at both.  I’ll have a couple of things to give away as well.

I’m still refining both presentations at this point, so if you have anything that fits into these topics that you would like to see discussed or mentioned, or if you have specific questions you would like to be addressed, contact me and I’ll do my best to incorporate it into the talk.

Steve St. Jean has a great post up about with links to download the VM.

Team System Rocks, the reboot

Friday, October 9th, 2009

About five years ago, I started blogging about Visual Studio Team System. At the time, blogging was relatively new, so I fired up a blog at Blogspot called Team System Rocks. After a year of blogging there, I registered the domain name http://www.teamsystemrocks.com, with the intention of creating a community site around Visual Studio Team System, complete with blogging, videos, forums, etc. It was a success, but it still lacked something.

I’ve been blogging at Team System Rocks for the past four years. While some of the video content needed updating (dating back to Team System 2005 Beta 2 days), most folk found the site helpful.    However, it still needed a boost as a “community” site. Mostly, I believe, because of the forums. I didn’t want to compete with the MSDN forums around Team System, so I created forums around more specific topics, not covered at MSDN.

The major problem I ran into with the site was the software.   Unfortunately, it was easy for spammers and bots to get into the site, and ultimately the site became overwhelmed.

So, I’ve decided to do a reboot. And here we are, the new Team System Rocks. Not much to look at yet, but its coming. First thing you’ll notice is that I’ve turned the site completely back into a blog. You’ll still be seeing the VSTS Daily Links, as well as my other postings around Team System. And the videos will be back as well, with new updated content for VSTS 2010. The look of the site will be changing over the next month as well, so bear with me.

For the loyal community that has stuck by this site since the beginning, thank you. And for those of you new to the site, welcome! Visual Studio Team System 2010 is right around the corner, and Team System Rocks plans to keep you updated with the latest and greatest information around Visual Studio Team System and Team Foundation Server.

Welcome to the new site!
