Team System Rocks, the reboot

Friday, October 9th, 2009

About five years ago, I started blogging about Visual Studio Team System. At the time, blogging was relatively new, so I fired up a blog at Blogspot called Team System Rocks. After a year of blogging there, I registered the domain name http://www.teamsystemrocks.com, with the intention of creating a community site around Visual Studio Team System, complete with blogging, videos, forums, etc. It was a success, but it still lacked something.

I’ve been blogging at Team System Rocks for the past four years. While some of the video content needed updating (dating back to Team System 2005 Beta 2 days), most folk found the site helpful.    However, it still needed a boost as a “community” site. Mostly, I believe, because of the forums. I didn’t want to compete with the MSDN forums around Team System, so I created forums around more specific topics, not covered at MSDN.

The major problem I ran into with the site was the software.   Unfortunately, it was easy for spammers and bots to get into the site, and ultimately the site became overwhelmed.

So, I’ve decided to do a reboot. And here we are, the new Team System Rocks. Not much to look at yet, but its coming. First thing you’ll notice is that I’ve turned the site completely back into a blog. You’ll still be seeing the VSTS Daily Links, as well as my other postings around Team System. And the videos will be back as well, with new updated content for VSTS 2010. The look of the site will be changing over the next month as well, so bear with me.

For the loyal community that has stuck by this site since the beginning, thank you. And for those of you new to the site, welcome! Visual Studio Team System 2010 is right around the corner, and Team System Rocks plans to keep you updated with the latest and greatest information around Visual Studio Team System and Team Foundation Server.

Welcome to the new site!
