visual studio 2005 and team explorer 2005

    Hi ,

I am facing some unique problem.

i have visual studio 2005 installed and i can open my toolbox, object explorer and create new project.

But as soon as i install team explorer 2005 all of these features go away, and dont know wht else. I can connect to my TFS Server using team explorer tho, but it seems to reduce the functionality of VS2005 itself.

Anybody else faced a same problem?

    Hi Anand,

Did you try this on other computers?

After you install Team Explorer and create for example a new windows application you can't see ToolBox?

Did you try Finding ToolBox from the View tab?

After installing the Team explorer, if i goto File it does not give me a option for New project and also if i check in view tab there is no toolbox..

    Hi Anand,
    I can't see any screenshot.

"Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Applications" and "Visual Studio 2005 Team Explorer" are the only apps that installed?

Try installing Visual C# or Visual Basic

It seems like when you installed Team Explorer those were gone.

Re: visual studio 2005 and team explorer 2005

    Hi Shai,

Installed Visual C# 2005, Visual C++ 2005, Visual J# 2005, and now they are listed in the Help->About Microsoft Visual Studio, alog with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Applications" and "Visual Studio 2005 Team Explorer" , But still same issue, dont see toolbox etc..

But noticed one thing, If i ununstall team explorer 2005 then everything comes back i can see toolbox and everything and if i install team explorer 2005 then again they disappear.

Tried creating new project Windows Application and still only default form appears , but i cant add nothing to it cause toolbox is not there.

    Dont know wht is wrong.

    Any Idea.?

    Hello Anand,

Can you please copy ToolBoxInstallerVS2005_log.txt content and post it.

    Try doning this:

    1. Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\Packages\{36839529-3AF3-47fa-8194-F4A3FA9F0ED7}change the CodeBase value to use the Visual Studio 8.0 location, for e.g. file:///D:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\Microsoft.VisualStudio.ToolBoxControlInstaller.dll
    2. Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\Packages\{36839529-3AF3-47fa-8194-F4A3FA9F0ED7}\SatelliteDll, change the Path value to point to the Common7\IDE folder for e.g. D:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\
    3. Open the Visual Studio Command Prompt and run devenv /setup
