More than 100 visitors were able to make a "trip" to China without a Chinese visa or on a more than 10-hour flight -- at the Chinese embassy in Washington, DC, thanks to a cultural event held on Thursday.

The embassy held a cultural event in partnership with the local organization "Things to Do DC". Jing Quan, the minister of the embassy, attended the event and delivered remarks. Guests from local communities were invited to experience traditional Chinese culture.

Jing shared with the guests the richness and diversity of traditional Chinese culture. Noting that the 78th session of the UN General Assembly recently adopted a resolution proposed by China on establishing the International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations, he encouraged more people to join in advocating dialogue, exchanges and mutual learning.

Jing stressed that the Chinese and American people are both great people. "We should be friends rather than enemies, enhance friendship rather than engage in confrontation, and firmly reject a 'new Cold War'", he said.
